Scope of the project
Kohala Hydropower Project is located on River Jhelum near Kohala and is basically a run of the river project with hydropower generation capacity of 1100 MW.
The project involves construction of (a) 52 meter high concrete gravity dam having crest length of 160 meters, (b) 17 Km long tunnel of 8.5 m dia. (c) power house having installed capacity of 1100 MW (4 Frances, Turbines of 275 MW each). (d) other related civil, electrical & hydro-mechanical works like tail race & head race tunnel, desanders, surge tunnel, penstock etc.
