Scope of the project
The overall objectives of the study are to update the nationwide availability of groundwater and propose coordinated and integrated approach of conjunctive water management to assure the sustainable availability of water for agriculture and other users. The specific objective are to; (i) review and update the assessment of groundwater recharge and development potential in all regions of Pakistan based on pervious works carried by various agencies; (ii) develop groundwater quality zone in all regions of the country. (iii) review all the existing polices, regulations, acts, and groundwater management action plans, and develop a comprehensive set of recommendations suggesting improvement in groundwater regulatory frameworks and strengthen the institutional setup; and (iv) develop a strategic framework based on coordinated and integrated approach of conjunctive water management to assure the sustainable availability of groundwater resource for long term utilization.
